attempt to update this page with meaningful links.

E-NEWSLETTERS,
PERIODICALS, AND INVESTMENT COMMENTARY SITES:
Gloom
Boom and Doom Report
We suggest that one of the most important folks to be listening to
at the moment is Marc Faber. Why? Not only for Marc's
long tenured experience, but also because of the fact that Marc has
been living in Asia for decades now. And we consider Asia to
be the locus of some of the most important change that is sure to
shape the global economy moving forward. Although the Gloom,
Boom and Doom report requires a subscription, you can check in on
Marc's free comments at this link.
Northern
Trust Daily Economic Commentary
We like the job Paul
Kasriel is currently doing at Northern. Although
Northern's investment research and management seems "closet
index-ish" at the moment, the commentary coming from Kasriel
is grounded in numbers reality.
Financial
Sense Jim
and Mary Puplava have put together a very comprehensive site
including contributions from many different folks with many
different specialties and takes on the financial markets.
Jim's weekly Financial Sense Online broadcasts are always worth a
listen.
John
Hussman Commentary
You may or not be familiar with John Hussman and the Hussman
Funds. We suggest giving John a listen with each weekly
commentary.
Prudent Bear
Dave Tice runs the
Prudent Bear fund. The weekly market commentary at the site
provided by Doug
Noland and Marshall Auerbach is well worth reading. The daily links
to thinking person's financial news is another good feature.
Be sure to check in on the chat board as it is regularly populated
by some very smart and insightful folks. Also, make sure you take a look at
their Safe Harbor Fund, especially as the dollar continues to show signs of
wear.
Safe
Haven Safehaven
is an Internet magazine that presents independent articles and
noteworthy links. Luckily proprietor Ed Bugos contributes his
own excellent and well documented work along with those of
others. Make sure you read the thorough and thoughtful
articles Ed has graciously provided.
Gold
Eagle Don't
let the name fool you. It's not exclusively about
gold. The proprietors of Gold Eagle have put together a site
publishing informed market commentary from many varied
sources. Importantly the commentary is largely from
thoughtful non-mainstream sources, as opposed to being a link page
to WSJ, NY Times, Washington Post articles, etc. The breadth
of subject matter covered makes site use a regular check in
exercise.
Comstock
Partners Labeled
as "perma-bears", the Comstock folks continue to point
out the cracks in the current "new era" logic.
Remember, a broken clock is right twice a day. Check
out Charlie Minter's commentary.
MarketViews.tv
Ike Iossif has put together a great site offering investors the
ability to hear interviews with some of who we believe are today's
"to be trusted" voices.
Ludwig
Von Mises Institute No
need to travel to Europe to think like an Austrian economist.
Just check in on the articulate articles at the Von Mises
Institute. New age credit junkies and New Era thinkers need
not apply. Yes, Larry Kudlow, this means you.
FiendBear
Page The
FiendBear page is an excellent page of links to "The Dark
Side". From the thoughtful to the outer edge, you'll
find it here. A real plus are the current financial
"articles" updated by the Fiend on a daily basis.
The site is bookmark material.
FORBES.com
This is still one of the "old era" periodicals we read
religiously. A good many articles (including archives) are
published on this site. We suggest you check out some of our
favorite contributors such as Steve Hanke and Dave Dreman in
addition to the mainline articles.
We have a few
favorite columnists from Forbes. Rather than linking each of
their separate articles, we suggest you spend some time browsing
their archived pieces (including the current issue). Thank
you Forbes.

The
Financial Times
You do have to register (free) to access the Financial Times, but
it is worth the effort. Excellent coverage of international
news events that clearly never make it to our local
newspapers/sources, let alone the WSJ or the NY Times.
Pictures
of a Stock Market Mania
Alan
Newman, editor of the "Crosscurrents"
publication does an excellent job of characterizing the current
macro technical market environment. Alan is currently
updating monthly. We strongly recommend checking in.
Silicon
Investor Despite
the name, it's not all about tech (although sometimes it seems
that way). There are a good number of bulletin boards here
worth a check in now and again. It takes a good amount of
digging, but there is informed participation. Don't be put
off by the plethora of participants who've recently graduated from
RagingBull.com (after all, they're just consuming valuable server
space).
The Daily
Reckoning Bill
Bonner and friends provide topical and off-Wall Street commentary
daily.
MARKET DATA, FUNDAMENTAL AND
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Dismal
Scientist The
dismal scientist is one of the better economic stats and commentary
sites on the web. They have gone to a subscription model and
are worth the fee in terms of timely information and analysis.
AMG
DATA Bob
Adler and company have been publishing weekly (updated Thursday
night) mutual fund flow data for a good many years. These
numbers are very good approximations of what is flowing into the
various "sectors" of the mutual fund complex. Here
you can witness the actions of "Main Street".
Economagic
Don't let the name throw you off. This is simply one of the
best economic data collections available in one place. You'll
save literally hours (if not years) combing government statistic
sites by simply using this service. There is a ton of data
here. And we mean it. For those who know what they are
looking for, you've struck the Motherlode of economic data.
We're subscribers.
Stock
Charts.com A
first rate charting site plus educational resource. As you
know, we use StockCharts charts in our work extensively. We
strongly recommend a visit. We have the feeling you'll be
back again and again.
Quote.com
Also a good charting
site. Also look for good macro source of headlines,
upgrades/downgrades, economic releases, and generic index
quotes.
Decision
Point Charts Decision
Point has put together an excellent set of historical charts
looking at macro market characteristics. Decision Point
charges for its excellent work and is well worth it.
World
Market Quotes and Charts Thanks
to our friends at Yahoo for a comprehensive global markets
quote/update page. In a world of global uncertainty, don't
you be.
Daily
Advance, Decline and Volume Numbers
Daily major market totals of advancers, decliners, the unchanged
and volume. For McClellan Oscillator fans (no, these
will not cool you down in summer), you have arrived.
GLOBEX
Quotes Now
you too can amaze your friends with S&P futures quotes all
night long. For the investment insomniac, the Chicago Merc
has provided overnight futures and currency quotes updated every
five minutes. In the current period of consistent heavy
global volatility, our advice is simple. When the globe is a
rockin', don't bother knockin' (unless you want to scare yourself
silly half the night).
Moore
Research Overnight Futures Quotes
One of the best pages we have seen yet for "overnight
action". This page has the major US equity index, bond,
foreign currency, energy, metals and grain futures.
Options
The Chicago Board Options
Exchange has provided the definitive source for options
information.
SEC
Documents It's
tough enough knowing just who or what to believe in a world of
instantaneous information overload these days. We have a
suggestion. Trust yourself. For those who are
investing without taking the time to read company specific SEC
documents, shame on you. SEC documents are as close to
having a company tell the truth as possible. We've caught
many a company in discrepancies between "press releases"
and subsequent SEC filings. To the Maria Bartiromo
cheerleading squad, we're sorry. It's time to fess up guys.
Zack's
Investment Research There's
a lot of good information here. Insider trade reports,
information on brokerage report releases, earnings surprises, etc.
Worth exploring to find out if it's right for you.
Investorguide.com
A great set of market
related links.
